Australia’s largest health insurer Medibank wanted to go beyond the conventional workplace to create a Health-Based Working environment. As well as giving employees the freedom to choose how and where they work, with 26 types of work settings, the Medibank office at Bourke Street incorporates thousands of plants, an ‘edible garden’ and a multi-purpose sports court.

Contributing to this office fitout and end-of-trip (EOT) facilities was a major project for ISM and sub-brand Lockin. In all 3096 lockers were installed across 10 levels that featured contrasting colour surrounds and mobile cabinet units by ISM. Throughout the office, ISM also created planter boxes, elevated work stations, tea points and banquet seating in collaboration with Schiavellos joinery division Prima Architectural. As part of the fit out, ISM created a reception desk featured on the concourse level at Medibank. Constructed with a custom MDF frame, the counter, workbench and writing top were manufactured from black powder coated steel with the facia clad in white stone.

An interesting feature of this project was the construction of an entire prototype floor prior to the fitout, giving our client the chance to experience the look and feel of the installation prior to final sign off.
